Henosis

Henosis

“Henosis” is a 30 x 22.5” piece composed of color pencil, watercolor, and gouache. Much of its meaning is summed up in a quote by John Steinbeck, “…all things are one thing and that one thing is all things — plankton, a shimmering phosphorescence on the sea, and the spinning planets, and an expanding universe, all bound together by the elastic string of time.”

The hands inside of the tree were influenced by some of Georgia O’ Keeffe’s works. The wolf serves as a reminder to the self to stay in touch with nature and one’s wild instincts, and was inspired by the book, “Women Who Run with the Wolves” by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
